The curriculum at NDS Academy is progressive and hands-on, designed to take a beginner all the way to professional-ready DJ skills. It’s built around real music performance, creative technique, and industry-ready mindset.

Level 1 — Foundations of DJing

What students learn:

  • Understanding DJ equipment (controllers, mixers, turntables)
  • Beatmatching without auto-sync
  • Simple transitions and cueing
  • Basic phrasing and tempo control
  • Music structure basics (bars, phrases, BPM)
  • Ear training for rhythm and timing
Outcome
Students confidently mix two tracks without assistance.

Level 2 — Tech Fluency & Creative Control

What students learn:

  • EQing and gain staging
  • Harmonic mixing and key awareness
  • Using effects tastefully
  • Building seamless transitions and blend points
  • Looping and hot cues for dynamic sets
Outcome
Students craft sets that feel musical and intentional.

Level 3 — Performance & Set Crafting

What students learn:

  • Reading and working a crowd (even in a live-stream or radio format)
  • Set building for moods, genres, occasions
  • Energy management and flow
  • Personal style development
  • Radio-friendly set formatting
Outcome
Students can deliver a coherent and engaging 30- to 60-minute set.

Level 4 — Professional Production & Branding

What students learn:

  • Branding fundamentals and artist identity
  • Basic music production (loops, edits, mashups)
  • Promo mixes and demo creation
  • Social media strategy for DJs
